Has to be the costs of the sport plus the time spent in the rain and cold and giving up weekends. DCs are young adults now and I wouldn't do anything differently.

Relocated my son’s elbow in the middle of a wrestling match and sent him back in to finish the match.

Wake up early every weekend

Drive 2 hours after work to school, home, practice, home

Spend $ on travel sports

Sit in the pouring rain and snow and heat

Miss showers and birthdays and parties

Most vacations $ spent on traveling for sport.

Spend $40K for college so he can play the sport.

I have a kid who is quite good at lacrosse. He also happens to have a summer birthday. The number of people who have suggested that I have him repeat a grade in middle school so he has an advantage amazes me.

To be clear, I redshirted his brother for solid reasons. I just don't see lacrosse as a reason to do it.

Hosted a high school kid for a year from Head Coach home country. Major brownie points

Definitely pay $1500 a month for a sport where DC has no chance of teaching anything close to an elite level.

But I wouldn’t change a thing.

+1 baseball or softball. I wouldn’t let my kids play even at the rec level because I couldn’t subject myself to that.

For us, it’s probably just the sheer cost of a travel team.

Limiting all vacations and trips to August, because my kid doesn't want to miss.

Changed schools for eldest child; for youngest we only go on vacation once a year in August bc they are in a year-round sport (both are at the kids’ request btw before the haters start!)
