If you’re going this far, go to Will’s instead. It’s like G st but with people who are actually nice and helpful.

I am not looking for the super high end stuff, but nice drapery that can dress up the room. If you've worked with someone that you liked before, please leave the name of the vendor in a comment. I appreciate it! Thank you~

If you don't want to spend a lot, you are probably better off buying premade panels. I would either buy readymade if the sizes work out, buy semi-custom panels on Etsy, or buy readymade and have it hemmed to the correct length. I was quoted an outlandish price at Calico, FWIW.

I have also sewn my own, and it's not that difficult. What is more difficult is finding fabric I like that isn't incredibly expensive.

I am in the process of ordering custom window treatments from The Shade Store. I don't think there's much price difference between Calico Corners and the Shade Store, but TSS seemed more modern (i.e., I wanted solar shades with simple drapes, not balloon valences) if that's what you're looking at. They have a store in Old Town Alex and in Bethesda.

The yelp reviews on Calico are really bad, their website looks nice though. I will go check it out in person.

Any other recommendations? There must be a lot of places that does curtains.

My curtains were done 6 years ago, so it may be very different now. Sorry!

I know it’s far but Will’s Home Decorating in Hyattsville is great. They have a big room full of fabric books, a workroom, etc. And they’re really nice and helpful.

Calico is your best bet for local custom draperies. Some people order them through Etsy but that can be risky. There are custom workrooms in the area, but at lot of them work primarily with designers rather than retail to homeowners.

The labor on curtain panels will all be roughly the same so the cost of the fabric is the main driver.
