I’ve tried a few things on Xmas eve, like crab cakes, stuffed crepes, etc.. going for a fussy and special vibe. I think this year I’ll do the mixed hours d’oeuvres idea since they are special but not as fussy.

On Xmas eve we eat Fondue or Raclette. On Xmas we have a big breakfast and then ham for dinner. I would like to eat duck or goose, but the rest of the family doesn’t like it.

I've been trying to build a tradition of having fondue for Christmas Eve dinner, but unfortunately I seem to be the only one in my family who really likes fondue . So this year I'm making a small fondue with a bunch of other appetizers that everyone else will like.

Monkey bread or cinnamon rolls for Christmas day breakfast.

Christmas dinner is usually some form of surf & turf. Prime rib with shrimp, venison backstrap with scallops, beef tenderloin and lobster. Not a strict tradition, but we usually stick to that theme.

Are you me? We do the same as far as monkey bread Christmas morning and Christmas cookies until they are gone (we make a lot!). My husband picks the rest based on his mood, this year he wants lasagna Christmas Eve and roast beef Christmas Day.

Tamales for dinner on Christmas. My stepdad’s family is Mexican and we always spend the days up to Christmas in shifts making tamales.

Christmas Eve: tamales, immediate family only
Christmas Day: prime rib with horseradish cream, mushrooms, spinach, yorkshire pudding. Extended family.

Looking for ideas to create some new traditions.

We usually do lasagna on Christmas eve but we don't have a Christmas day tradition besides cinnamon rolls in the morning. What are yours?
