Yes once they started middle school. They were sweet sensitive little angels in elementary.

Compared to my friends kids and from posts I see here on DCUM, my kids don't ask for/demand anything. My 17 year old is making our family dinner right now. They all help with other chores when asked, but rarely do it without prompting.

That’s kind of the definition of kids. But caring for the is the definition of parents- so it works out.

Not really. Sometimes I kind of growl at them if I think they’ve made an unreasonable/ungrateful request, which I’m not proud of but they do seem to get the message. I vividly remember my mom calling me a brat once which hurt my feelings but did make me reassess my behavior.

Yes. But they’re supposed to be. Most kids are very self-focused and haven’t developed empathy. It’s our job as parents to help them learn how to focus outward and consider others’ feelings.

Why yes, I do indeed, one of them particularly. Part of my job as a parent is to teach them to be mindful of others.
