Your "goal" is not going to happen unless you go with in home daycare (and find one of the few who don't require masks and have openings), hire a nanny or move.

Nanny share/pod? At 2yo you could probably find one nanny/teacher who could watch three kids. You’d get the socialization and get to set your own rules (with the other parents and nanny/teacher).

Nope, just recommended. There are many that don’t require it.


Yes, you might have luck in Alexandria. I know of one that doesn’t require them. Center.

Kids cannot socialize sick with Covid. If they cannot mask keep them at home.


With all respect, the masks don’t really matter if they are unmasked for eating and napping. And we all know toddlers don’t wear them correctly anyway. Trust me, if toddler masks were actually some sort of infection wall I’d be more open, but my kid is still constantly getting sick. Also covid is mild in toddlers and everyone around mine is vaccinated and boosted including their teacher. It just seems like an enormous price for a 2 year old to pay considering all of that.

I think you need to find an in home or consider going to VA where masks are only mandated on 5+. We also use an in home solely due to the no mask requirement. It’s interesting that many of the parents moved their children to the same setting due to the mask policy.

There are no centers on the hill that don’t require masks for 2 and 3 year olds. They may be more understanding of kids struggling with wearing masks at this age, but they will reinforce it and expect you to provide masks.

I agree with you OP. I don’t think PK kids should wear them either.

We use an in home daycare that doesn’t require masks. Unfortunately most centers do.

Does anyone know of any daycares that don't require 2 year olds to wear masks?

Ideally near or within manageable driving distance of the Hill.

I agree with the WHO on not masking under 5 years old and now that it's clear we could be living like this another year if not longer, I want to find an unmasked classroom for my child.
