Our tufted sofa is 2yo with small kids (5 and under). It does somehow get crumbs and stuff in the tufts somehow, even though we don’t let anyone eat on it.

Ours has a tufted back and normal cushions for seats. I love that the back keeps it’s tailored look and doesn’t look squished or misshapen like our other couch cushions after our kids use jr

Covered with what?

Blanket or sheet.

Yeah you don't want this if you have kids that will use it regularly. They will pick, pull, twist them. Irresistibly and without awareness.

I have tufted sofas without buttons and they're doing well.

That’s the real issue, quality construction, they stay put.

There's a lot of pressure on those buttons. With heavy use, they will give.

Tufted aren't recommended for heavy use.

Covered with a blank or with a slipcover? I’m considering covering with blanket.

I have a tufted sofa from room and board, which I consider to be good quality, and the buttons either have small tears around them or they have shifted in such a way that the interior of the cushion shows. This sofa gets heavy use and my son in particular is rough on it. I’d say it took about 2 1/2 years for the wear to show up.

Hi, I’m shopping for a sofa for our family room, which will be heavily used daily by my family including two young kids. I fell in love with a tufted one from Arhaus, the seat cushions are tufted, the back cushions are not. Do buttons on those seats last? I can’t find any answer by Googling. I had one soda from West Elm before that the buttons didn’t last very long, but apparently that particular sofa was famous for loose buttons, the company discontinued it be a if it. I assume Arhaus has better quality? Does anyone here have any experience using tufted sofas with kids/daily use? Thank you in advance!
