If the kid has recovered I might have the kid over for a play date.
Right now I prefer not to see sick people indoors even if not covid because I don’t even know if I can send my kids to school with a cold. My husband had a cold last week. He tested for covid & it was negative. He restricted his own activities a bit (like I did all the carpools last week) but I let the kids continue their activities since they weren’t sick and it was not covid.
Over the summer I did a house rental for a week with friends and one person had a cold but got covid, flu and strep tested (all negative) and we said she should still come.

Nope, and that's not at all related to Covid.
I don't like being sick. I have a crappy immune system. There's nothing medically wrong with me or anything, but I get lots of colds, and they're always worse for me than for other people. So I do not spend time with sick people. Who wants a cold right before Christmas??

The hassle of even getting a cold right now is pretty high. After the holidays I might feel differently, but I'd probably want a negative COVID test before having someone over if they were actually experiencing symptoms.

Probably not. Not because I’m afraid of getting a cold but because if my kid gets a cold he’s out of preschool, has to go to the doc for a covid test and full virus panel before he can go back to school and it’s a $150 copay.

Only if they test negative. I developed a cold and lost my voice: no fatigue, no fever, stuffed nose, no voice then a raspy voice. Since I have no allergies in winter, it was a cold. I got a PCR test and the negative result before allowing DD to invite her friend over to our house.

Not right now because if your kid gets a cold, they’ll have to be out of school, test, etc., may mess up Christmas plans. during the summer, sure, because I don’t think getting a cold is that big a deal.

If you have someone over who has a cold, you need to assume you will get the cold. Is it worth getting a cold to see your friend this week? At least, that's how I would think about it.

If they are vaccinated and/or tested negative for covid. I prefer my kids not to be sick so I will probably to continue to not hang out with anyone sick.
We have a good family friend we would like to see this week. Their daughter had a cold last week, tested negative and has gone back to school. The vaccinated mom now has a mild cold. I am not sure if she tested.
