My brother was a math major, now works on Wall Street. My father was also a math major, went into a successful corporate career.

But I just suggest she do a 5 year plan to graduate and heavily lean on the worrying center.

She will be taking classes with foreign nationals that also need the writing center.

I think it’s way less writing than most majors. Lots of math and science classes, then as you specialize lots of specific applied science and math - that’s what engineering is. So ya there is some writing but it’s way less than 1/4 of the work. Ask around though for more recent experience. I graduated in 1998.

This describes me although I have no ADHD diagnosis. I also literally chose my college major due to my dislike for writing.

For awhile I majored in math, but then I changed to computer science. IMHO the ability to write well professionally is needed but is a pretty different skill set than writing history or english essays for college. Communication skills (being able to talk to people) are just as important if not more so.

OP here - Thank you. Do engineering majors not have to do a lot of writing to get through college? I'm worried a writing intensive major will tank her GPA.

DD is a freshman so not college-ready yet. She LOVES math. She is in pre-calculus as a 9th grader. She has EF issues due to her ADHD and also struggles with writing. What would be some majors for her to consider that would include her love of math but not require her to have to write a whole lot? (I understand freshman year of college she will have pre-reqs but hoping for a major with very little writing so Statistics is out). She can communicate well verbally but written expression is hard for her.
