How are people not understanding the OP. It’s a simple question. Of all the close contacts identified in APS, how many go on to test positive for COVID? If a positive case is identified in a classroom and 20 kids identified as close contacts as a result. Those numbers show up on the dashboard. If a close contact then goes on to test positive it will show up as a positive case on the dashboard. BUT there is no data or tracking to show AS A PERCENTAGE how many close contacts go on to test positive.

For example, LA is implementing TTS based on the low transmission: https://ktla.com/news/local-news/l-a-county-announces-modified-quarantine-option-for-unvaccinated-students/

As of last week, among the almost 30,000 people that ended up quarantined, 63 tested positive.

“This amounts to what we call a secondary attack rate of 0.2%,” Ferrer said, calling the figure “extraordinarily low.”

What are you talking about? APS has a dashboard where they track cases and close contacts, refreshed daily. Additionally, I personally know kids that are quarantined RIGHT NOW based on being a close contact at an APS school.

Where on earth are you getting your info?

Our elementary school said only 1 of the 11 cases resulted in spread. That was to one additional student.

Anecdotally, I know of a few, but only a few. But our ES only had a few cases until recently. That means the positives are way higher than being reported. Then again with vaccinations maybe it will be low...???

I’m not sure what you are saying here. My DW teaches for FCPS. She has a student who tested positive on Saturday. She is quarantined. It is reported.

You totally lost me with the part in bold.

Scroll to the bottom below the actual positive cases. Looks like they do track "close contacts". Unless you mean something different.

Yeah, I don't understand OP's post. My child has been identified as a close contact by APS twice this fall, and required to quarantine each time (tested neg each time). And they list close contacts on the dashboard.[/quote

The point is how many of the close contacts go on to test positive? Where is that on the dashboard?

The fact that neither Arlington Health or APS has tracked this is serious incompetence. They've been asked many times.

I’m not talking about the county as a whole. APS had a COVID dashboard where they list cases. They then notify students who are close contacts and tell them to quarantine. How hard is it to note whether they end up testing positive or not?! Anecdotally, I know many people that quarantines because of close contacts and no one in anyone’s class has ever tested positive. This information is going to be even more important as more kids are vaccinated and not required to quarantine. This is literally the most basic way to evaluate spread in the classroom.
