+1 on the amazing HoS - academics is his top priority and it is showing.

Bullis academics are excellent. My DC has been a lifer at Bullis, a Senior now. If he had to rank Academics, Arts, Athletics in importance for him, Academics would be first, Arts second, and Athletics third. Academics are his thing. He likes going deep, understanding concepts, being challenged. Bullis has done an outstanding job on all of these things. Teachers meet kids where they are and challenge them to high levels. My DC has been very, very happy at Bullis and is ready for college.
I could go on and on. But looking back at our time at Bullis, academics and the qualification, expertise, and caring of the teachers are definitely among the things we appreciate the most about the school.

Switched from a well regarded public to Bullis for HS. There are many honors and AP courses (you have to sign a form to allow your child to take more than a certain amount, which is no problem), and the small class size makes for great discussions. Teachers are engaged and happy to be there.

The new HOS (who is amazing) is focusing on academics and sports/arts, and I bieve the schools academic reputation is on the upswing.

We have been very happy with the academics at Bullis. In my opinion, this is a school where balance is a key factor and this is extremely beneficial for the students. My sons are both high achievers and they have always been able to select challenging classes. Because of the healthy environment Bullis offers (balance between academics, arts, and athletics and the absence of extreme pressure), the students quickly become self-confident and self-motivated (a hugely valuable asset in college and in life in general). We have a recent Bullis graduate who is doing really well in college, mainly because of the high quality of his Bullis education and the rigorous work habits he has developed in high school. The classes he took at Bullis have given him a very good preparation for college. If you are interested in Bullis, please go and visit the school, you will be able to see for yourself. It is not easy to pick the best school for your child and the process can be very stressful - I wish you the best of luck!!

PP, I think it would be helpful to know if your kids are Ivy legacy or sports recruits. Not claiming they have to be to have gotten into Ivy but if they are either of these, your experience might not be applicable to others.

OP - maybe also consider St Andrews.

We were extremely happy with Bullis academics. It has a broad range of students, which is nice. It has a beautiful and serene campus and top notch facilities which add immeasurably to the experience. It has rigorous academics and is challenging. Both of our kids went on to Ivy League schools from Bullis and graduated with honors from both. While this was great, this was not our sole goal going in. They were well prepared. DO NOT take your advice from the haters on this site. Go see for yourself and make your own decisions. Our students had a great high school experience without being miserable and benefited from Bullis' balanced approach. I hope you can talk to current parents. It is a lovely community. It’s not known for academics.

When choosing the next school for my daughter, we were steered away from Bullis because we were advised by multiple people that it wasn't academically rigorous and that DD wouldn't be challenged.

My kids really want to go to school together, and this seems like a school that hits everything they want and I want for them, but one of my kids is academically very strong, and I wonder how they do for that. Any experience?

He's not a kid who needs to be pushed. Very much an explore on your own kinda kid.
