I think this is why ham has a sweet gravy or glaze, to pull away from the salt. For me, I think the solution is to have lighter sides that complement the ham. So not, for example, scalloped potatoes. But roasted brussels and butternut

Yep, this is you can do with country ham to decrease the saltiness and it works with other hams too.

You can soak in water in the fridge for up to 72 hours, depending on the size. Change the water every 4 hours to decrease bacterial growth risks.

Ham is literally salted pork. If you want less salty ham, you don't actually want ham.

I have no idea, but maybe rinsing with water…. Soaking in OJ? I agree though that they are often very salty.

This seems like such a dumb thing to type, but my family loves baked ham and we are planning to eat one for Christmas dinner. My problem is I find them so so salty, sometimes unpalatably so, and I’m wondering is there a way to decrease the taste of salt? Rinsing the ham? Blotting it with paper towels? Adding something to the pan?
