I would say columbia heights or mt. pleasant. You can metro, run in rock creek, wak to target, take metro all over. A lot of young singles are always around our condo dining at little cocos, habanero or taking the bus quickly down to lower 14th. unclear if you're want to buy or rent but...just a thought

Take a look at the Ballston to Courthouse corridor along the Metro Orange line. Checkout Clarendon. Lots of new apartments, restaurants, runners, easily accessible to DC.

I lot of young-but-not-too-young people live in the building above Whole Foods on H Street NE. The Junior League thing sounds more like Georgetown to me, but I’m not sure any young people live there anymore.

14th street corridor (between P street and U street NW) has many recently developed apartment buildings and condos and is walkable to restaurants, grocery stores and other shops.

Op here, thanks for the suggestions. I'm temporarily renting in Bethesda. I like this place, but I'm open to something that may be more fitting. I would prefer a newer condo/apartment. My budget is $3k max. I have a car, so it must have parking(I don't want to get rid of it). I would like to be near grocery stores/Target and decent restaurants.

She said she's looking for a place in a neighborhood with people in her age group and with similar interests. Single family home neighborhoods in the close in suburbs typically aren't overrun with single women in their 30s.

Logan Circle, DuPont, U st

I second the suggestion that you look at Logan. You can easily walk to Metro Center from there and it's your demographic.

If budget is not a constraint (and it doesn't sound like it is based on the Midtown/Village history), I'd say live near Logan Circle. There's a good mix of newer large buildings and older small buildings or condo splits for you to choose from there. 14th street is one of the better commercial corridors in town, and it leans a little older than some neighborhoods specifically because it's a bit more expensive.

But really, there's no shortage of mid-30s single people in most DC neighborhoods close to downtown. Where else you should consider depends a little bit on whether you're a "new building" person, an "old building" person, or an "old house" person. For newer buildings, check out NoMa/H Street/Union Market, the West End, and the area immediately North of U St.. For old buildings, check out the area around Meridian Hill Park, the area Northeast of Dupont Circle, Kalorama, and the NE side of Capitol Hill. Adams Morgan has a good mix of new and old buildings as well, with For old houses (without getting too far away from other singles), check out the neighborhood North of H Street, Mt. Pleasant, Columbia Heights/Park View, Shaw, and Bloomingdale.

I definitely wouldn't suggest leaving the District unless you had some specific amenity you wanted to be near.

Budget?

My office is located near Metro Center and although we are remote, I'd love to have access to the office. I'd also would love to be in area with people in my age range and similar interests. I've been a junior league member while in my previous cities and I love going for runs to keep fit. I am open to close in burbs(more for your money) and the right city neighborhood as long as I can find a neighborhood with good amenities. I've lived in Midtown Manhattan and Greenwich Village to give you an idea, as well as an upper middle class/upper class neighborhood by a southern beach to give you all an idea of what I prefer. Help a DC newbie please? Thanks
