I have a 2021 forestor. While I have not had the problem reported in the article, I do find these "driver assist" technology really annoying. I'm fully aware of what is going on, and can gauge when I need to break, but the dang eyesight break engages, and it scares the sh1t out of me when I'm driving. I also had to turn off lane assist because the beeping was driving me crazy and made me think there was something wrong with the car which caused me to check the dashboard (which means I'm taking my sight away from the road).

I had a 2015 Outback with Eyesight and now have a 2019 Forester with Eyesight. Never had 1 issue and it’s actually helped prevent potential accidents, primarily through the feature of preemptive braking.

Well when it turns off, that’s not malfunctioning. It does that in severe weather.

The only time I can think of where you’d have a safety issue from it breaking erroneously would be like if you were making a left turn.

It annoys me because it will beep at me when I’m in heavy traffic like merging lanes or something. And it once beeped and braked for a sign by the road on a curve. But I keep it on because I think it is good at preventing rear end accidents.

I am this pp and I just read through the class action lawsuit and we have not had any of the issues stated. Our lane keep assist appears to work great and we haven't had any issue with it suddenly breaking. The times our eyesight has turned off I believe happened because something impaired its line of sight.

Should say braking not breaking.

We have a 2020 Forester and there have been a few times now where it will say it is not working. Every time was during a long multiple hour drive, it turned off for maybe 5 minutes and then came back on. There are many alerts that let you know that it is not working, but yeah it is a little annoying when it happens.

OP here - its obviously been an issue for some as there are several class action lawsuits relating to malfunctioning eyesight, and it includes model years through 2021.

That said, I'm glad everyone on here has not had any issues.

We have a 2019 and 2021 Ascent and have not had any problems with EyeSight. We’ve been driving the 2021 for over a year now. They’ve been great cars so far, and I never envisioned myself driving a Subaru before them.

Saved my sister from hitting a deer that jumped onto the road. She’s been happy with it.

We have 2015 and 2017 Foresters and haven’t had an Eyesight issue.

We have a 2017 Forester with eyesight and have never had any issues with it. I've been really impressed with it.

Also just bought a 21 Ascent and no eyesight issues there either but we have only driven it 100 or so miles so not a helpful data point for you.

We were pretty settled on an Ascent before learning about all the problems with Eyesight malfunctioning. Has anyone experienced this on models with eyesight?
