Living in the upper midwest in the 90s I remember several occasions of very warm weather in Dec. I was a grad student and told one of the younger professors I worked for how I felt guilty about enjoying it because of the climate implications, he felt the same way.

Yes, global warming.

One factor in the winter is that the jet stream winds have become increasingly unstable. So northern areas can flip between unusual cold and unusual warmth.

Yes it’s global warming. There was a massive span of F5 tornadic activity in the Midwest last night. In December. We will not see typical weather patterns as we knew them for the rest of our lives.

the hottest recorded temperature for December 15th in Chicago is 64. in 1971.
