If you like dogs or horses or Paris, I highly recommend “Perestroika in Paris” by Jane Smiley.

Just a happy, sweet book. It’s like if Ted Lasso were a book (nothing similar subject-matter-wise, but because of the happy feeling it evoked in me)!

Early Morning Riser

anything by Fannie Flagg

I've found romance novels to be pretty cheerful--Helen Hoang, Casey McQuiston, and Courtney Milan

I second the red for Anxious People - I loved all the characters.

Anthony Horowitz's detective series often make me laugh aloud - so that's feel good as far as I can assess

The word is murder
the sentence is death
A line to kill
Magpie murders

I recently read “Rise and Shine, Benedict Stone,” and it’s a sweet, positive book. I’ve been keeping it in mind as a good gift for someone in need of a pick-me-up. (In particular, there’s a storyline of people becoming inspired by certain gemstones and their supposed properties — X for courage, Y for healing, etc — so I thought I t would be cool as a theme gift along with a crystal or piece of stone jewelry chosen to add good wishes for whichever property is assigned to that stone.)

Please Don’t Sit on My Bed in Your Outside Clothes was absolutely joyful - but I listened to it as an audiobook. Not for prudes.

Anxious People was fun and enjoyable to read.

James Herriott's books are so heartwarming (although occasionally there's something terribly sad all of a sudden - but most are very happy stories).

Or if you like romances, Cotillion (Georgette Heyer) or Confessions of a Shopaholic (Sophie Kinsella) make me laugh every time. So, tbh, does Meg Cabot's Princess Diary series. They're so non-stressful to read, everything works out in the end, and they're just the sort of books a friend of mine describes as "delightful confections."
