I wouldn't say ECNL-R is trash, but there are only a handful of competitive clubs in it. It is not a well rounded league by any stretch. Beach competes in good tournaments. I see their teams in enough brackets. They play who they can for where they are located. Like a previous poster said, there isn't a bunch of ECNL teams near them, so not sure what else they could do.

They would be really strong if they created some kind of partnership to create a top team. I'm not sure if that is feasible based on how far apart they are though.

How can you tell who qualified?

Top two teams in each age group. So the champ and runner up that played in the final game both going to SD. This is for the boys only. Girls are playing a similar final four tournament but I think only the winner goes to the national event, at least from Virginia. This is one of the main reasons clubs switched from CCL last year.

Agree. Beach is top of ECNL-RL for most age groups, Legacy isn't even close for all but a couple age groups. The only age groups that are good are the oldest ones, who will age out in a year or two. Younger teams are not ECNL worthy.

Beach is a strong club. Legacy was a strong club, not anymore. Richmond United get kids from there doubt they would let them in. If Beach doesn’t get in within the next year or two they will start to look for something else.

That would be nice. I don't know much about BRYC. Beach would need to recruit better coaches IMO. I know Beach has been trying to get into ECNL.

No not at all. They have one decent girls side, compared to Beach. The 2006 side. I don't see how the state cup is much of a judge for competition though. The top teams don't seem to compete in it. Maybe I'm wrong though. My daughter is younger and I'm just learning how to navigate all of this. Not many options in our area. Best players seem to go to Richmond United from the 757, if it's feasible.

I don't have a player involved in these games but I'd like to point out that most of these teams in the South don't have 5 ECNL and 3 MLS Next teams in their back yard drawing top kids away from their clubs and, for the ECNL clubs, their 2nd teams are playing in this tournament. So I don't think this is really apples to apples but it is what it is and congrats to the champs. You play who is in front of you.
