I did so last spring twice.
My daughter was picked up by a friend's club. They were short players and it was fun and a small tournament. She scored the winning goal in the last minute of the finals in poor conditions and with her weaker foot. HUGE confidence boost.
Another individual sign up the next month resulted in having to back out of that/had to take her off the list of the site due to our own team's changing schedule. She had not yet had an offer to play with any team.
Both tournaments there was a link from the tournament site to sign up. The Jefferson Cup allows this.
To be able to go onto another team and adapt to new players/another position is a good experience.

I don't remember how I got access to a GotSoccer login but that link at the bottom allows me to search for tourneys and register as a guest player.

Do you have specific instructions on how to sign up for tournaments on soccer.com?

You only need to discuss with your coach if a player card is required.
Whether or not you want to depends on your relationship with the coach but signing up to guest play via the tournament’s website poses little poaching risk.

I just learned you can do it through soccer.com. I also heard the same thing PP said. Often it is lower level teams. But can still be a fun experience.

So i put her name in the gotsoccer guest player thing and very low level team reached out (she's lower ECNL level player). The team lost every game by a few goals, they should have been in a lower bracket but the coach didn't have a clue. The funniest part of the weekend was when the parents were chanting her name when she came off the field for the last game. My daughter was mortified ('that was so cringy') but I thought it was hilarious. Also, a couple girls were a bit territorial- which isn't surprising for 13yos.. It was a fun experience but I doubt she would ever do it again.

Has anyone ever randomly signed up his/her DC for a tournament as a guest player individually? Meaning, they just randomly sign them up and see if they get picked up with another team to play.
I thought guest playing usually involved you already having a connection to a different team and being a part of that roster for said tournament. However, I noticed for the Jefferson Cup that you can individually sign up to guest play.
Any thoughts or experiences here appreciated.
