Those 24 hour tests are $$$. DH gets one for his international trips, but I don't think it's worth it for domestic.

I think they are worried about business. I've noticed a lot of the restaurants around here who were requiring vaccines are not anymore. There must be a reason and a good guess would be money. I'm bummed, because I want to do some indoor dining now that I've had my booster and my kids are fully vaccinated, and proof of vaccine would make me feel a lot better about it. But I don't think the restaurants that were doing it are continuing.

Why bother? There aren't tests needed to cross state borders by car, bus, or train, so why test to cross by airplane?

I totally understand why testing isn't practical, but why couldn't domestic airlines require all travelers to be vaccinated, and show their vaccine card before checking in (similar to how sporting arenas do it). While they'd probably lose some business from the BUT MUH FREEDOMS crowd, I think they'd gain alot more business, particularly from families.

Because what difference would it make? Planes aren't proving to be super-spreader places, and as Dr. Collins said, it's already wherever you're going.

But maybe Florida should implement it so someone from NY doesn't bring it to them.

I'd be happy if they'd administer rapid tests before flights, but the US is so slow and unprepared for this.

It's logistically impossible.

Also, this is political theater. By testing international travelers, they look like they're doing something.

Francis Collins was on Meet the Press yesterday and answered this. Basically he said, it would be very disruptive for Americans, but otherwise, he said what is the point? COVID is everywhere and most states have high rates of transmission at this point. So it's not like there is a risk of someone from one state bringing it to another state.

Do you think it’s feasible to test 2 million fliers every day? That’s more than the total number of people being tested every day in the country as a whole.
