I have heard that these are total cash cows for the schools.

Striver-parents think they will give some leg up (at an age when there is little to put on a CV) but they do not.

On the W&M program it helped DC get a scholarship to a competitive academic program the following summer.

William and Mary summer history program on campus for three weeks. Graded. Rigorous.

NP. Second this. Fantastic program.

My DC also had a great experience with this program.

Columbia. But has to be 16+ to stay on site and partake in after class activities for the duration of the course (1 wk or 3 wks in the Summer).

Alot of these are outrageously expensive.

No direct experience. But a relative sent their child to Yale international scholars. You could research that one.

If you google, you might find lists of similar programs. Good luck.

Skidmore has a fantastic program and it was a great way to experience a college campus for the first time. Downtown Saratoga Springs is just a mile down the road, so they would just walk if they didn’t want to wait for the bus. My daughter took two classes, and it’s a standard college set up…dorms, dining hall, get yourself to your classes on time, complete your assignments, hang out with your friends at night, etc.

My son, who loves math/stats, liked the data science program at Georgetown. It's only a week, so it was a brief introduction but he enjoyed it and is now in college pursuing a related major.

Where are you located? State "Governor's Schools" tend to have programs across a wide range of subjects including humanities subjects and students live on campus for the program. The student does have to apply and get accepted and it's pretty competitive and rigorous in many programs but it can be a fantastic experience. Full disclosure, my DC didn't ever go for Governor's School due to other summer programs and commitments (none in your history/poli sci areas), but had close friends who did attend, and who loved it (this was in VA).
