I can do this for my kid and I'm not even rich. There are many things I'd like to do for my kids, but buying a new car and putting a bow on it, is not something I'd like to do. You probably wouldn't do it even if you could, and it's less exciting when you are rich. It just shouldn't be a big deal for somebody with money. It's not even a big deal for me - somebody without money.
Not sure how to help you with the jealousy, because buying a car, even a new car, hasn't been a big deal or a luxury in lesser developed countries for awhile now.

Maybe you should look at the kids standing at the bus stop instead of comparing yourself to the kids that have new cars.

I know it’s annoying to see all of the new car posts on social media, but keep in mind that comparison is the thief of joy.

Sure, a kid might get a new car at 16, but there will always be someone out there with more - a nicer house, better job, fancier clothes, etc. It’s a good lesson that life isn’t always fair.

Sometimes kids who haven’t had things handed to them on a silver platter end up working harder and doing better in life.

Don’t let the car posts bother you.

I don’t know anyone who got this growing up and my kids don’t know anyone here right now. We live in a nice neighborhood but apparently not that wealthy if this is going on other places locally.

I wouldn’t care. It’s not any different than the kids who got the motorized ride on cars when they were toddlers or the new iPhones when they were 9. There will always be people who have more than you and always people who have less.

It's a good lesson in life.

Some kids get new cars.
Some kids get new cars when they wreck their first new car.
Some kids get used cars.
Some kids get grandmas' cars.
Some kids just get to share with you.
Some kids get nothing.

It's easy to teach gratitude for most every level here. It's how every aspect of life works.

I grew up in a high school environment where this was common. I was not one of the lucky ones. Showing off on social media is par for the course… What else is social media for? Consider it a good lesson for your child that some people get some things another people don’t, and some people work for things and other people don’t.

Why is it a big deal? If you want to get your child one, go for it. I'd wait till they have more experience if you have an extra car to drive, but sounds like its important to you.

Seriously don’t stress about it. There will always be people more wealthier, even if you are incredibly wealthy. There is more to be a good parent than providing a new car
