+1. The more the fob does, the more expensive it is. I think the fob for my minivan costs $650 to replace.


That depends on the make of the car. Our Honda fobs are under $200 for extras. The germans are good at getting every possible penny out of owners

I long for the days of good ol' key-insert ignition, no automated locks (reach over to unlock others' doors), manually rolling up car windows, and the only thing "automatic" was popping the trunk.

Just did this at the Tpyota dealer. About $200 for the fob, another $105 (and 90 minutes) to code it to your car.
