DD turns 12 in January and I agree is very hard to shop for this year. She wants a giant Lego set, the complete collection of one of her favorite book series so that she doesn't have to keep checking them out of the library, and the requisite request for a rabbit or guinea pig.

We're also getting her a wearable blanket, earrings, a new bike helmet, a sweater from Zara and probably something else. She's not into makeup yet, even if we would let her wear it.

My 12yo DD asked only for Lego sets!

At 12, my crafty (but not necessarily artistically inclined) DD absolutely loved the RoLife miniature model kits and ROKR wooden model kits. These were pretty much her pandemic lifesaver. Her favorites were the library/bookstore and the Japanese house, as well as the functional wooden clock.

If you do purchase kits like these, she found the Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Glue that frequently shows up in the “Customers Also Purchased” lists on Amazon to be really useful, because it’s much less stringy and more forgiving that the stuff that comes with the kits.

+1 for this. My kids are slightly younger, but pretty much beyond the toy phase, and I’ve found lots of neat things for them on Etsy.
