2 slices/person? Could you be anymore stingy? Do you not have teenagers? Or kids?

My kids are 12, 9, and 6 - and like I said - I always) have leftover and pizza is usually not the only thing I am serving. Usually IME the older eat more and the younger eat less so it evens out.

I'd go with six OP. Worst case scenario is you have some extra leftovers...

For my family of five, we order three large pizzas. One for my husband, teen daughter, and myself, and one each for our teen sons!

My 11 year old eats more than 2 slices of pizza. A teen would eat much more.

Err on the side of more. Leftover pizza is good.

Having run out of pizza at a past get together, 2 slices per person may not be enough. For some who will actually eat the salad you put on the side or any other things on the table, 2 slices may be enough. But many people view pizza as an item to be eaten by itself and won't take any of those other things. Should they? Maybe, but they are guests and I didn't invite them so I can dictate their diet. Err on the side of more pizza.

When I worked at a pizza place, here were our recommended servings:

10" small - 1 to 2 adults
12" medium - 2 to 3 adults
14" large - 3 to 4 adults
16" x-large - 4 to 5 adults
18" xx-large - 5 adults

Kids eat about half to two-thirds what an adult would eat and teens are probably 1.25 adults.

So, I'd probably plan on something in the range of 4 large pizzas.

I'd probably do 4, with some sides.

My teen sons eat a whole pizza each. I would say 5 to be sure you are covered. 4 if the teens are girls.

Is this for dinner or more of a luncheon?

Will the pizza be served after a big activity (like walking around DC all day) and therefore people will be hungry? Or will it be served during, say, Saturday at 330pm as people loaf around watching the next college football game that comes on and it's not really lunch or dinner?

Keep in mind thin crust isn't nearly as filling as regular. And square cut pieces seem like you're eating more than traditional triangular.
Different pizza places have different definitions of "large" (or "XL") pizza so read what it serves.

Always over-order with pizza especially with teens. And if you have leftovers (gasp!) it reheats and/or freezes well. I promise you there are worst things in life than leftover pizza.

And one of the adults is an older adult who doesn’t eat much.

Thank you, frazzled hostess with six houseguests for six days, and other relatives staying in a nearby hotel

I’m thinking I need cheese, pepperoni, veggie, and black olive (a family favorite), but not sure how many to get overall. Plus salad and maybe some wings/breadsticks.
