If the majority of the people view a SCOTUS ruling to be illegitimate, which the majority will if RvW is overturned, it won’t be followed because no one will enforce it. Period.

Republicans have been crapping on the rule of law for a long time now and have done all they can to make the courts a tool of the right. Roberts knows the credibility of his court is hinging on a thread. The other right wingers don’t care because they take for granted that people left wing and center trust the court. I don’t think they’ve taken into account what will happen if they lose that trust.
