Um, ok. I'm happy with my water filtration system. It's not just about water hardness. It's about removing chloramine & chlorine (the chemical DC water uses to sanitize the water) and VOCs, pesticides, etc with activated carbon. And I don't have to replace the entire system in ten years, just the filter carbon media.

A cartridge pre-filter with activated carbon has to be changed every three to six months, so I'm not buying that it's easier or cheaper.

You don't need a whole house filter for drinking water. An under sink filter is all you need.
