I'm the PP with the latex topper (56 and same experience!) and I'd love to know the local details of your mattress, PP, since I'm going to be doing some bed-shuffling soon and will be ready to go full latex. I got my latex mattress at Urban Mattress on Maple Ave. in Vienna for close to $4000 (king size). It is the Integrity from the Virtues line. Worth.every.penny. Any stiffness in any part of my body disappears the moment I lay on it. I've had it about 5 years and it is as wonderful as the day I got it. As far as mattress shops go, Urban Mattress is the best one I've ever been in. They are very straightforward and very low pressure--no fake "sales" and none of the stereotypical mattress/used-care sales vibes. They are straightforward and will work with your budget. Most of their lines are rated "good, better, best" and you can decide how much you want to spend based on that. They have conventional (coil) mattresses too (just got one for my teen), but the latex ones are the stand outs.

Any mattresses have firm edge.all mattresses have soft edges, unlike the old ones that had almost a firming wire around the edge. Older relative needs that firm edge to push against to stand up. Also fears rolling out of bed bc the edges are so soft.

I have this mattress and I can’t wait to replace it. We’ve had it for 13 years now and the only thing stopping me is that it weighs about two tons and I don’t know how we’re going to get it out of the house. It was comfortable at first, but it’s very hot in the summertime and we’ve got major divots in both sides now. Also looking for recommendations because 2022 is my year for a new mattress!

I would suggest visiting Sleepare in Tysons. They have all the internet mattresses that you can try and buy thru a person. We went to all major stores (mattress discounter, tempuredic, casper, purple) first. You have to make an appointment first and you are the only one there.

OP, you have to incline the entire bed, not just the head of the bed. These convertible beds that raise you from the waist up are not what you need. Stack wood underneath the mattress on an incline.

I too am always interested in a good comfortable mattress --- but the acid reflux problem you speak of is not about a particular mattress, but the set-up.
