Previous poster - I had follow up scans after my last pregnancy and the fibroids that grew during pregnancy shrank back down post partum. But everyone is different.

I had a growth my GYN thought was a fibroid and it turned out to be a polyp once I had an HSG. That was definitely preventing me from getting pregnant and I was the first cycle after it was removed.

I didn't discover that I had fibroids until I was pregnant. They were pretty large in size and they were afraid that my baby would have to fight for room, but she made space and is now 8

I can’t say one way or the other as I has diminished ovarian reserve at 34. I did finally get pregnant via ivf at 37 and my fibroids were monitored closely (I have three small ones very low and not affecting the uterus). They barely grew my first pregnancy. After 4 more years of IF a small polyp was discovered and removed - pregnant the next cycle. Currently 30 weeks and fibroids all still there and again have not grown at all. All my docs have not been concerned or ever recommended removal. 42 now if that helps.

Yes, to difficulty getting pregnant, reproductive endocrinologist required myomectomy before transfering embryos, no difficulty during pregnancy itself, even though i did have new fibroids developed during pregnancy, but they stopped growing at some point, vaginal delivery that required blood transfusion, I did have blood loss during the delivery itself but had a low hemoglobin level even before delivery so I can't blame the fibroids only.

I had a small fibroid with my first pregnancy that was a non-issue. Wasn't TTC and ended up with a low risk vaginal birth at home.

Years later, I'm TTC at 38 and still have fibroids but unsure of size. In 2017, I had 2-3 small fibroids (a quarter size for the largest) and 1-2 small ovarian cysts. I don't know if they've grown or shrunk since then, but I had several cycles of heavy bleeding in the first half of 2021. I've since changed my diet to incorporate more cruciferous vegetables, reduced stress, and using wholistic remedies for shrinking fibroids. I hope to schedule a scan next month to see where my fibroids are now.

Hopefully, none of this will impact pregnancy or TTC.

A lot will depend on individual details. In my case I have several smallish intramural fibroids. They grew a lot during pregnancy (happens in ~1/3 of cases), so I had regular growth ultrasounds to ensure growth was attributable to the fetus and not the fibroids. I delivered vaginally. Since fibroids put you at a higher risk for postpartum bleeding, I received cytotec rectally after delivery. I hardly noticed. The midwives assured me the bleeding from fibroids upon delivery should be very low on my list of concerns as they are always well prepared to respond.

I had them before I was pregnant - I was 37. We did do IUI - but the fibroids weren't an issue. Super safe/non-eventful pregnancy - I was planning/preparing for a vbac, but water broke on due date, inductions failed and had a c-section. The doctor took 2 fibroids (golf ball size) out during the c-section. My periods have been super great since pregnancy. Doctor did stress that I should wait a year until the next pregnancy.

+1 after i got my fibroids removed, my gyno was like have that baby in the next 6 months. You're never going to me more cleared out and ready than now

I did not have fibroids for my first. I developed fibroids before / during my second pregnancy and now still have them for my 3rd pregnancy.

There are so many different factors that could affect fertility - where is the fibroid? How big is it? I'm lucky that mine are small and at the top of my uterus so unlikely to negatively impact a pregnancy.

I've never had a c-section, but my Mom did. She eventually needed a hysterectomy due to how bad her fibroids were. These days the treatments are better so you don't necessarily need to lose your uterus.
