If you want the poops to be more solid, I would adjust his diet. If he currently eats twice a day, try adding lunch if you are home. You could also try a little pumpkin or yogurt.
The problem is that he is forcing himself to poop when he doesn't need to! We already give him pumpkin with every meal. His poops are a normal consistency when he only goes once a day.
