I wouldn't care if she finished her degree or not. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone like her. I would recommend it 10 times out of 10. She can finish school anytime she wants, if she isn't done. Looking forward to seeing her in the NWSL.

She is graduating - not leaving. Early - took classes every summer. The money allocated to her for next year can be redistributed to others if Steve wants.

No she did not. The student who did not get into UVA did not deserve to be there.


This frees up a place for a student now.

Of course people say this about male athletes. An incredibly minuscule number of freak of nature athletes will ever be able to support themselves as a pro athlete.

They can do what they want but IMO, bailing on education sends a bad message to young players out there regardless of the sport.


I's the smart move for the players drafted into leagues where the signing bonus will eclipse most of their classmates' life time earnings. NSWL is a completely different story.

Of course people say this about male athletes. An incredibly minuscule number of freak of nature athletes will ever be able to support themselves as a pro athlete.

Not sure if places like UVA offer this but many of the D1 schools now allow athletes to come back and finish their degree if they leave early for the pros. This is a recent development driven by the recent changes in NIL rules/the lawsuit, etc.
