These just sound like mistakes. I doubt the line cook was giving you any kind of look at all. But you should have brought the mistake to their attention.

I didn't get that she thought it was retaliation, but that the line cook knew he had subbed the wrong meat.

I would just leave it be and not order from there for awhile. Not bad enough to warrant a yelp review, but maybe a call to the manager if you feel strongly.

Just call and say you got the wrong order on XX date. They will probably try to make it right and give you a discount or a free chx souvlaki. I've gotten the wrong order before and every restaurant has tried to make up for it except for Cane for some reason. They didn't even apologize and then gave that wrong order I'd already carried home to someone else. yuck.

I'm always dumbfounded by things like this. Why does OP think she is so memorable that they are holding this grudge for 2 months so they can act upon it with her next order? If OP does take out every few months with varying orders they likely have no idea who she is or if they do, they don't know what she's ordered or that she politely pushed back over the phone for a pricing error. They certainly don't know she hates lamb, which I would love as a substitution for a chicken. It's so far-fetched.

Right? I'd be thrilled if lamb was subbed for chicken, because lamb is usually more expensive! No restaurant is going to punish you by giving you something MORE expensive than what you ordered. People like OP vastly overrate their own importance to others.

OP, I think restaurants are just "over their heads" during the pandemic...short on staff, short on supplies, etc. If the restaurant no longer meets your needs -- try someplace else. I really do not think most t businesses want to tick off their customers.

You should never order from anywhere that does both pizza and souvlaki.

And you should never order souvlaki from a place that only does chicken souvlaki, not lamb or pork.

I can't imagine them holding a grudge about this for two months. That's nuts. I'd just let the manager know that you received a lamb souvlaki instead of the chicken you ordered.

Hi all. I've had a couple of weird situations with a restaurant and I'd like to run it by you guys to see WWYD? We have a very popular neighborhood restaurant (well supported during shutdown period). Nothing fancy - pizza, subs, that sort of thing. I order from them occasionally but when I do it's a nice break from cooking every night. About 2 months ago I ordered a carry-out pizza that should have cost $22. The girl on the phone wanted to charge $40. There's way too much easy money that has entered our community, and other people will pay the $40 bill without question, plus leave a sizable tip. I asked the girl why the bill was $40. She gave a lame excuse about pricing out the toppings individually, but I politely reminded her the menu said this pizza was $22, so she dropped the price to $22. This week I ordered a carry-out chicken souvlaki for DH. He didn't finish the sandwich. I asked why and he said it tasted funny. I tried it - they had filled it with lamb, not chicken. I LOATHE the taste of lamb. Anyway, now I understood the long look the line cook gave me when he handed the box to the cashier. He knew I'd ordered a standard chicken souvlaki, as there is not an option for a lamb souvlaki on the menu.

Would you guys say something to the restaurant manager? Would you let it go and hope this doesn't become an ongoing thing?

Please, no flames. I'm simply curious how you people would handle two obvious mistakes in a row.
