I will be leaving DCPS at the end of the year as well. If I find a better opportunity mid-year, I will leave mid-year. Teaching is extremely stressful but even more so in a district that continually throws additional requirements on my plate without the training or **time** to get them done.

Only on DCUM.

What are the expectations? Are they new?

+1. I'm really sorry to hear that, PP. I have been wondering what it's actually like for my kids' teachers this year and wonder what I could do to support them more. Anything you'd be willing to share would be much appreciated, PP.

this is happening across the economy. it's not specific to teachers. lots of people are quitting.

Kids are extremely far behind after missing so much school. Some teachers don't want to deal with that.

I find this post ironic since throughout the pandemic DCUM posters have been telling teachers to shut up and quit if they don’t want to deal with Covid etc. and now that teachers are actually quitting…it’s an issue for you.

Teaching is HARD. If it was easy, more people would do it. Including you all. The pay in DCPS while higher than most, is not worth it to everyone.

I wouldn't assume vaccine hesitance, off the bat. I have heard from many teachers, here and in other states, that this year has been harder than any other (including last year). And if a teacher has their own kids that keep getting pulled out for quarantines, it might start to feel impossible.

Did it just happen? The Nov. 1 date seems to be suggestive of unwillingness to get a vaccine.

It has happened every few weeks since the beginning of of school year.

Ouch, no. We had some turn over at our school this year, but no teachers have left since the school year started.
