Precalc was a very difficult class at our school. I think it might be a hard one to compact.

We have done several landon summer classes and they have been good but really fast paced. We use them for prep. I don't think you can learn everything in six weeks.

+1. You are only 1 qtr into school and could more easily make up the difference between the Honors Alg2 and Alg2/PreCal classes than assuming Summer Pre-Cal is going to be a breeze and completely prepare for Calculus.

+1. See if you can convince them to give her their most recent test right after New Year? And if she does well they can let her join? It means she has to give up her Thanksgiving and Christmas break, but better that than giving up summer…

Edmund Burke has a pretty robust offering of summer courses.

Another good option is the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. My daughter took geometry with them this summer and received full credit for the course. It was a very comprehensive class---about 10 exams, midterm, final, 3 projects, etc.

Maybe Sidwell or an online course that is college credit approved?

Is anyone aware of a school that offers a summer precalculus class which would be acceptable to MCPS for credit? My sophomore in a large MCPS high school is bored to tears in Honors Algebra 2, and her teacher suggested switching to an Algebra 2/precalculus class that moves more quickly, but it's just a bit too late in the year to switch now because there would be so much work to make up in order to catch up with others who've been in that class since September. She is hoping to take precalc during the summer in order to take AP calc next fall. She is a very mathy kid, and one parent has high-level math and science skills and can help with homework. Thank you.
