What is your concern with her being on controlled substances? Are worried that she will misuse them or share with friends? I have two kids with ADHD, and stimulants work much better than strattera for them. They aren't allowed to bring their meds anywhere. Being a controlled substance is a pain for me because I have to ask the doctor for a new prescription every month, but not a problem otherwise.

I used Ritalin but Wellbutrin helped with what I would describe as my emotional flat lining when I was on the Ritalin.

We tried several meds (Vyvanse and Ritalin?) and both triggered significant anxiety in my daughter. Ultimately, we gave up on ADHD meds since none of us could deal with the anxiety spikes.

mine is on vyvanse, as well. she has used this since her diagnosis (different doses) and added an additional short term adderall for when she needed to stay up longer for studying.

My son also took Vyvanse. It was the first medication he tried and it worked very well for him.

Stimulants work much better. But people have different tolerances to them. They gave my son an upset stomach. We make sure he eats breakfast before he takes his pill. It was a little rocky for a few years, trying to figure out the right dose. He's 14 now and doing very well on 20mg Vyvance.

I will speak with her doctor, but I wanted to hear about other people's experiences. DD has been on Strattera for almost a year. She is at the highest dose. It's been helpful to her both of us notice a difference, and she feels worse if she misses a dose, and is all over the place. DD and I have noticed that it doesn't seem to be lasting as long as it did.

Since she's at the highest dose, it's likely she might need a medication switch. My concern is having her on a controlled substance. Wondering if others have made the switch from Strattera to a controlled substance and what the experience was like.
