All you environmental scientists out there, please help me make my decision regarding buying a place right next to a large pond. The Potomac River streams into this pond. What effect does that have on soil if I wish to garden? What does it do to the foundation of the home? Can ground water seep through into wells? What kind of air borne bacteria may exist around ponds? Is there any way to protect the home?
