I have heard that they dont have as many of the sour flavored candies in other places, so like sour gummy worms or sour patch kids could be good. Also air heads and some of those long rainbow rope things, could be fun. But generally i wouldnt think theyd be blown away by the quality of our candy

NO. Germany has the best gummies (sour and regular) in the world.

Good American wine---Vermont ice wine? Pecan pie/pumpkin pies. NYC bagels with cream cheese. Twinkies/moon pies/pecan log rolls. Anything with maple syrup.

Really random, but when I lived in Europe (Spain, Italy, France, Germany) all of my friends would ask for Big Red gum. Something about the spicy, cinammony taste really delighted them and there wasn't really a local equivalent.

Black and white cookies

If you can ship alcohol, what about local whiskey or local wine?

Also maybe Mambo sauce from DC. I feel like a lot of regional New York stuff, like Nathan's hot dogs or pizza, couldnt be shipped. Maybe a jar of Raos?

I would say definitely candy and snacks, if that's not too low class for you. I have seen people on social media rave about American candy and snacks and you can't say that for most American things.

I think something expats say they miss is the types of sauces we have or spices.

Especially being from the east coast or DC, you gotta put in old bay. Then maybe like some creole seasoning as well as BUFFALO sauce. Different kinds of barbecue or hot sauce. Something like pickled okra is distinctly American.

I am drawing a blank, and am looking for ideas, please!
I just worked on a big project with a colleague from Germany. She brought some local liqueur for us, and I would like to reciprocate.

Any ideas for “typical American” food that can be shipped to Germany? Preferably something that she can share with her laboratory. And bonus points if the food is from NYC/east coast.
Thank you so much!
