Me too with our two year old. Was totally on me. She used it in perfect context at least. Doesn't swear (at least in front of us) now as a teen.

Our dog snuck out an open door and the 3 y/o announced that the f****** dog is out again. A for effort in alerting us to a problem. F for execution. Literally.

I was at a birthday party a few years ago in the kitchen with a few other adults while the kids were in the dining room. This perfect, big eyed three year old walked into the kitchen and said to me, “Aunt Mary, May I please have some paper towel?” I said sure and asked her what she needed it for as I handed it to her and she said, “I spilled my f**king juice. Thank you, Aunt Mary”. When she left the kitchen exploded in laughter and I had no clue why. I was so impressed with her manners that I didn’t even hear the “f**cking”!

lol after 15 years of providing home daycare that is the one and only scenario I've ever had with swearing. Three year old playing with lego said the same thing. Caught off guard I replied "What did you say?" Only to have it repeated. I just said "We don't say that here." To which all the other tots started paying attention and were chirping "Say what? Say what?"

Little guy had no idea it was not appropriate to say. It never happened again.

LOL! You do nothing. NBD. My four year old stepped outside the other day and said, "It's so damn cold out here." (Unlike your situation, we're fairly confident he DID hear it from us..ha). It's funny.

There isn't anything to do beyond what you already plan to do. The first time I heard my kid swear (probably around the same age) I burst out laughing.
