I think that's a little overdramatic. Have you had a tdap lately? That's about the worst sore arm around, in my experience. But, it's not like it's an actual injury. You can just power through the pain, the arm is still perfectly functional.

NP here. It might seem dramatic but after my Moderna shots it felt like someone had wailed on my shoulder with a baseball bat. It was well beyond tdap soreness. I've never felt anything like that from a shot before. So...results may vary.

My arm was sore after Pfizer booster, but about the same as I always get with a flu shot and not nearly as bad as a Tdap which always makes it hard for my to lift things.

FYI, if this concerns you, moving your arm and exercising for awhile right after the shot can help reduce how sore your arm may get.

Good to know. My arm wasn’t really sore after J&J. I always get a little sore after the flu shot but manageable. I went and lifted weights after my flu shot this year. I remember Tdap making my arm sore but also not terrible. The Moderna booster made my arm significantly more sore than any other shot I’ve had before. The pain ramped up to where it was all I could really think about a few hours after getting the shot. I didn’t even want to fold laundry. I did some arm circles and such and it helped take the edge off. The pain was still there the next day but not nearly as bad.

NP. Everyone is (gasp) different. I had to go to India pre-covid, and at one point got three shots at once - tdap and two others (I think it was typhoid and hepatitis). My arm was sore, but not nearly as sore as from my one shot of J&J. The J&J was not only more painful, but the pain lasted a good 6-7 days. (When I got a Pfizer booster shot, it was sore for less than 24 hours).

Moderna gave me similar sore arms for both shots, and flu-like symptoms for the second shot. i haven't had my booster yet.

Honest to god, I've always thought a sore arm was just part of every shot. I also definitely thought it was just from being stuck with the needle, until this year I had no idea it was actually a symptom of the immune response.

Haven't gotten my booster yet, but this year I did a 15 min lifting workout right after I got my flu shot and no sore arm. Using the muscles in the arm where you got the shot helps a lot with avoiding soreness.

I had a Moderna booster and had a very sore arm. Much much worse than after any other vaccinations. No need to tell the OP that it "it happens with every shot" because if that was true she probably wouldn't have posted.

The good thing is that the sore arm went away after about 4 days and I had no other symptoms.

I had my third Pfizer and was ill for 5 days but no sore arm
