The journalism school is one of the best in the country. There is a SUNY school affiliated with the main university that is for Environmental Science and Forestry. I don't personally know anyone who combined the two, but I'll bet you could.

Have your perused a book like Princeton Review's book of best colleges? In the front they list best schools for most majors.

That might be a good startig place. It is on Amazon. I trust that more than the many lists that circulate on line.

Is she a junior? If so, she should look into the Medill Cherubs summer program at Northwestern. Not only is it an amazing experience, but those who attend and do well get a considerable admissions bump if they apply to Northwestern.

My DD has similar interests and also looked at SLACs - especially the NESCAC ones. And considered McGill in Canada. I've also heard good things about St Andrews.

Bard has an internationally recognized Sustainability program.

The obvious answer here would be Northwestern. They are top for journalism but also have a well regarded environmental science/studies dept. If she's competitive for Tufts and WM, it may be worth a shot to aim for NW as well.

DD is looking to study Environmental Studies/Sciences and English. Would like a midsize school with no more than 12-15K students Max, close to city or large town. Wants a pretty campus, but does not want remote. Absolutely hated VT. Ideally located in New England, Mid-Atlantic, NC, CA or Chicago. Does not want to be in the Deep South other than possibly Florida. Open to Canadian, UK schools as well. Solely based on major, do you have any recommendations? Hoping to hear some schools we have t thought of. So far we have UVM, Tufts, WM. Thank you!
