So today, stuck sick in bed, I turn it on and see that it's leaving Netflix at the end of the month. Heads up to anyone who wants to binge watch it before it's gone.
(Also, I don't think it's just my fever, but Glee gets realllly weird. The Rachel TV show? Hurt locker? Freaky Sue robot on tricycle? What's up with that? Still I must go on.)
Anyone else discover or rediscover Glee years after it ended? Anyone else nostalgic for McKinley High? And what can I watch next to fill that campy musical void?
Aaaaa-mazing!
If you want a comedy musical with camp and a lot of modern references/fourth wall breaks, find "Galavant."
It's the musical love child of Monty Python and The Princess Bride. Faux fairy-tale-medieval musical comedy with all original songs that are very funny and musically very accomplished, too. Only 18 episodes total but the story gets completed and there are some great character development arcs, as well, not just 100 percent silliness. Though it's pretty damned silly too. If you don't warm up to it at first, give it time, it won't take long. Season two is even more fun than season one.
It is not on Netflix any more, but you can see it if you are willing to pay the pittance to stream it via Vudu (NO subscription fees, you just pay by the season or episode for stuff on Vudu; I use it a lot.). "Galavant" is also not on Amazon's regular package of streaming BUT you can also purchase seasons or episodes via Amazon to stream. I got DVDs when it left Netflix so I don't have to be at the mercy of streaming services. But I think it's worth the money, IMHO. If you were ever a Psych fan, by the way, one of the leads (the wicked king!) is none other than Tim Omundson, who played Lassiter, the uptight head detective on Psych. You likely won't recognize him if you only know him from Psych!
