I like the idea of going to a movie with big bag of candy, since then he doesn’t need to watch others ToT.

Or, he could dress up and greet the ToTers at your door (12 is on the cusp of when kids stop ToTing anyway).

I do want to also throw out there that if you, the mom, called me to explain, I would in two seconds tell my kids that Larlo is coming ToTing with them tonight. So, if you have a friend with similar aged kid, I’d consider that.

They at least have each other. But the orders would rather be with their friends.

Why not just go to any of the scare fests or ghost tours on Halloween?

My teen son does not have any friends right now. I don't even have candy in the house. So you are not alone, OP and son!

What we do have is two 8 week old adorable foster puppies. In my mind, that makes up for quite a lot. I hope my son sees it that way too.

On years when they don’t have plans, I take our teens to a movie and let them buy their own bag of candy.

He’s 12.
Other PP, no, he won’t die, but he’s sad and having no friends is hard. It’s especially hard on days like Halloween, when kids his age are having a good time with their friends, wearing costumes, and gorging on candy.

Wow, insensitive.

I’m sorry OP, that must be hard. Is your mall doing truck or treat?

DS started at a new school this year and hasn’t made friends yet. Unfortunately his friends from his old school kind of drifted away during covid, so he has no Halloween plans. I’m wondering if there’s anything fun and Halloween-related we can do that’s not going to make him feel super lame hanging out with mom. I feel bad for him.
