Who cares where the car is made? Although I’d assume it was higher quality if made in Europe or Asia. The Kia is a very handsome SUV…..nice choice.

I've got a 2016 Ford Explorer which I do have a couple of regrets about. One is that I settled for the Ford Explorer rather than buying what I really wanted, the bigger and more expensive Ford Expedition. My second regret is, after settling for the Ford Explorer, I didn't buy a better trim, I bought the base model which had everything I needed, but I should have treated myself a little bit.
But getting back to your comment about driving a vehicle that "crushes other cars in a crash". My Explorer makes me feel safe, I get to sit a little higher up and see more of the road ahead. If you want to sit low in a car that's your problem. My concern is my safety. I'm not going to buy a car to make someone else feel safer.
Cars suck. I'll be an SUV driver for the rest of my life!
I kept going back and forth on the explorer. It was plenty big but the trim was an issue and I had trouble finding a dealer to custom order and the one I wanted would have been $60K. This time around I got almost everything on my Jeep as I was tired of driving the low trim model and wanted more. But, we keep our cars 15+ years or until they die.

I just got a Cherokee earlier this year and love it, but I kind of wish I waited for the Grand Cherokee L for the three rows. We’ve been “Chrysler people” for a long. Never had an issue before 250k miles.

Its not a huge vehicle and the regular Grand Cherokee is pretty small.
I got a metal bumper on my Jeep. I don't feel guilty being prepared in case of an accident and saving our lives. And, driving less would really help you in terms of the fuel you burn. Its not so much what you drive but also how much you drive. I can guarantee you my gas guzzler is far more environmental than your what ever you drive as I drive far far less than you do.

OP here. I test drove a regular Grand Cherokee,MDX, Pilot, Highlander and 4Runner. So far the Grand Cherokee L was my favorite but maybe I need to look at some more.
Look at the Explorer, GMC, Lexus, and Hyundai. I was surprised that I liked the Hyundai best. I looked at majority of the SUV's and was least impressed for the price of the Cherokee. I liked the Explorer as it had heated massage seats but the 2020's were not fun to drive. I ended up just getting a Wrangler instead. Fun won. If you get a Jeep, get an extended warranty. We've had no issues with ours but it seems hit or miss.
