I don't think so because there is a little human in there and they are eager to home it ASAP. Lubricant wouldn't really help, it is between the size of a coffee stirrer and a straw. Ask for the meds if you're worried.

Thanks, all. I just have a sensitive area and need lubricant. Do they add lubricant to the cathedar?

Not at all. Didn't feel a thing. Don't overthink this.

Nope

If you made it to the embryo transfer-- congratulations -- it will seem like nothing given all that came before.

Just like a pap. No need for Valium or any meds. Drove myself home each time.

This. The transfer didn't hurt at all. The worst part was the full bladder!

It is easier than a pap. They are not scraping your cervix for a sample. I never had meds or DH with me and walked away and went home via subway both times.

I had one fresh and one frozen transfer. No sedative, and neither of them hurt at all. They put a thin tube in place - I barely felt this, and then the embryologist brings the embryo and they put it through the tube. It's a very quick and painless procedure, and you can watch it on a screen as it's happening. After they insert the embryo, they will have you lay down for 5+ minutes.

You can ask for Valium. It doesn’t hurt, but it’s awkward—speculum, then thread the tube, load the embryo, and transfer.

I read it is like a PAP, but I thought that was painful and uncomfortable. Do they give you a sedative? Anyone have experiences at CFA?
