NP. For me, it's not. I'm planning to vote D for governor and R for local positions. Alexandria's city council and school board are disasters but I don't want Trumpers at the state level messing with future elections.

No. VA is one of the few states having a gov election this year, and at times is looked upon as a reflection of US elections so I don't think the coverage is all that unusual. That being said, I'm in Arlington. The school board will NOT change drastically if a republican is elected gov. That's not our demographic in Arl. Can't speak for more diverse counties.

Caveat: I am not voting for that Ish character. Fortunately that isn't an issue since that isn't our zone.

ACPS has school board races, several open seats due to incumbent resignations, and some kooky candidates, including this lady who wants to push vouchers for homeschooling and the 1776 project. There’s another guy who’s an anti-masker and tried to send his kids in without masks claiming a medical exemption, but the story fell apart.

Granted, it's a bit of chicken and egg, but has it ever occurred to you that it's discomfort and displeasure over the behavior of local school boards that is affecting political races rather than people simply expressing their dissatisfaction to local school boards in the hope of influencing a political race?

I’ve only heard of one resignation, Beth Barts.

In answer to the question, I think school board shenanigans will impact the governor’s race, negatively for McAuliffe.

The New York Times, the National Review, NPR, basically every news outlet is showcasing the national attention on our VA Governor's race. Do you think the governor's race will have an impact on Northern VA school board elections? Or is that too down ballot and most people don't even select anyone that far down the ballot? Do you think people are paying close attention? I feel like nonpartisan races are getting hypersensitive about the what political affiliation is of each candidate. Some people have it way wrong. What do you think?
