Plenty of times when I was dating in my 20s (or the women were in their 20s). For example you'll make plans for Friday on a Monday, then I try to confirm Friday and ghosted. I make sure to pick meeting places where I don't mind being alone, like a restaurant that has a lively bar also.
My friends and I would joke you need to book dates with 2-3 women in order to get 1 to show up. This nonsense seems to have tailed off once women reach their 30s.

Once in 10th grade when my friend tried to fix me up with his eighth grader girlfriend's best friend. Not since then.

I know someone who missed a date because he was locked up for a DUI. Another person had an accident and was in a coma. Both contacted the date when able and ended up together.
What sane, emotionally sound woman would marry someone who was locked up for a DUI during what was supposed to be your first date? That’s just kind of sad.
I’ve regretfully ghosted on communication with early stage dates over the years, but I would never ghost on an arranged and confirmed date.

Kind of, I developed an interest in a coworker over some months. I eventually asked her out, but it was just before Christmas and she was headed out of town. She she wanted to and to ping her again in a couple weeks.
It was just after that that I met my future wife and we started dating immediately. I never contacted the first woman again but still see her occasionally. I wonder what she thinks. I think she genuinely wanted to go out, but she also never contacted me and certainly could have. She probably just thinks I lost my nerve.

Yes, and he had a really good excuse, so I continued going out with him. Turns out he was emotionally abusive douche bag.

The only time I've ever ghosted was after a first date in which my date really gave me the creeps and then wouldn't stop texting afterwards.

I was in my early 20’s and this was before iPhones. 😱 I was suppose to meet someone for lunch but I had met my now husband the night before and was still at his place, so I didn’t go on the other date.
