I'm back to this thread because I have to admit I have been thinking about this!

OP, I'm not judging, just genuinely curious- do you not use much garlic in your usual cooking? Or any pungent flavors?

I frequently will roast whole bulbs of garlic in my oven and will carmelize onions on my stovetop for hours, so clearly you and I have different feelings about strong cooking smells, but I can't imagine being that put-off by the amount in some pre-made mc and cheese. Is it possible there is something not right with your oven ventilation? A PP mentioned the possibility of a garlic oil, or maybe even a truffle oil. Those do smell very different to me....

We tried it but my husband and I were honestly grossed out from the smell, so it's tough to say if it was different or inferior because smell impacts taste so much. We pitched half of it as I didn't want the kid reheating it and stinking up the kitchen again with that smell. I just have no interest in baking it again and risking it reeking just as bad.

I just emailed to ask. Nothing stern or anything like that. Just asking if there was a lot of garlic in the to-go mac & cheese. I figured there was some but the way it reeked made me wonder if they'd want to know if some new prep cook was accidentally adding too much, you know.

While they made a kind offer, we have no interest in baking it at home again, thus we are not interested in two more. I like garlic but I don't like an entire wing reeking of garlic all day.

Did you even taste it to see if it was their normal preparation or if it was different?

Garlic cooking smells AMAZING I want to eat this macaroni now ASAP. I roast my own garlic at home and I makes me so happy

How did it taste? Did it taste the same or was the batch that you baked loaded with more garlic than usual?

We love this restaurant's mac & cheese and they sell to-go bake dishes of it for like $20. Well we baked one last night and the smell of garlic was so strong it made me want to pitch it. It tastes amazing at the restaurant but I can't get over that awful smell while it baked.
