By 5, my oldest was tough on clothing and shoes that passing things down was limited.
Bikes and scooters and ice skates all got passed down.
This. We also saved some clothing that still looked good. It's nice to have older stuff to send to school as back up clothing or to wear to play outside when it's muddy, etc. We saved books and toys because that stuff can get expensive and often is used for a short time.
