I have a 6 year age difference. I have a ton of storage space in my home so we kept almost everything - crib, lots of baby gear, books, toys, scooters, bikes, clothes, winter gear. We've gotten fantastic use out of plenty of it (my two are same gender). But again, space was not an issue.

Space constraints or not, keep books 100000000000%.

We did but found clothing with elastic and shoes sometimes didn’t hold well. I’d be inclined to pass along some of those.

I keep books, the more expensive toys, bikes and a few clothing items. I have a large gap between kids.

We have that age gap with my boys and my nephew and we're saving special items, holiday clothes, jackets and pants, nicer toys like train sets and magnet tiles, and books. My sister really appreciates it. We store it here because she doesn't have room and we just give her a bin at at time! We intend to save sports equipment too, but so far its all gotten too beaten up to save.

Depends on the storage space. I kept many items, despite lack of space, but my children are only 5 years apart.

We kept books and clothes, no toys.

This. We also saved some clothing that still looked good. It's nice to have older stuff to send to school as back up clothing or to wear to play outside when it's muddy, etc. We saved books and toys because that stuff can get expensive and often is used for a short time.

I did not, because I didn't know when #2 was little that #'s 3 and 4 would be ordered. Once they arrived I occasionally would keep a sweater or book or something I thought one of the younger kids would like or find useful.

Yes. We kept books, bedding, gender neutral clothing/shoes/coats/snow pants etc the youngest might use. Oldest is a girl youngest a boy.

Books, definitely. Maybe some items of clothing and selected toys. Probably not any sort of gear such as high chairs, car seats, booster, etc. although you are obviously beyond that point if your youngest is 4.
