I worked with 3 different people who ended up marrying their affair partner. All have now been 20+ years and seem very happy.

My aunt’s first husband left her for his AP when my aunt was 5 months pregnant. He never laid eyes on my cousin but has been married to the mistress for almost 50 years now and they have 5 kids together.

My FIL, he married the AP over a decade ago and they seem happy. He loves her and she loves his $.

My dad is still with the woman he cheated on my mom with 25 years ago.

My neighbor is married to his OW, she goes to rehab every few years. Her son is very nice though he is on ROTC because his college fund went to rehabs.

Opportune word is 'claimed'. Men in affairs will say anything. It's part of an act and they don't want to stop the free gravy train. It's play-acting, not real.

My mom did. He is a loser but she stays with him, almost like she thinks the length of the relationship cancels out the affair.

I know two married couples where both people left their first spouses. Both couples have been together for about 15 years. As far as I can tell (I am not a close friend), they are doing fine.

He was not in love. He said that to get the sex. Men say anything for that.

Did he end it? I said iLy only because she said it and it would have been very awkward not to say it back. Plus, if I didn’t it would have likely have ended the sex. I ended it when the novelty wore off and the guilt got too much. But, yeah, it was never real love.

My ex did! Married his AP. Doubt they are happy but who knows.

Yup. I left my spouse, AP wasn’t married. We’re together now and very happy.
