That’s a good one too.

Bananagrams. Each player has their own game. There is even a large size to suit people with eye problems. It is a race to see who can use all their tiles first (both playing by the solo rules). You can find ways to balance the game out so that grandma doesn’t have the advantage of knowing more words to spell. Better yet if you can find the wild tiles version so the kiddo can use those wilds.

Catan. There’s an app.

Best if each player has two devices. One for the app and one for FaceTime.

Here’s another one … Kingdomino. The game is relatively cheap and has been available in big box stores like Target. Each could have their own copy of the game. One person would id what tiles were on offer, so the person on the other end of the video could set up the same way and play.

Mastermind but they have to be clear about what is slot 1,2,3,4,5,6

Probably backgammon or checkers.

Another one (better than battleship IMO) is Sonar, the kid/family version of captain sonar.

Roll and writes are perfect for this. One example: Qwixx. The paper can be scanned and sent to remote players. One person rolls the dice for everyone.

Bingo like games like Karuba also work well — You could send a board, one set of tiles and player pieces to grandma. This seems the best type of game for this.

Heads up is a fun and easy game they could play together over FaceTime. It’s sort of like guess who.

OP Here - My mom doesn't play Chess, and Ticket to Ride is too complex as well. They don't want online games, rather board games they can each have a copy of and play together.

You can do online Monopoly that I've found works well. My DD loves playing with Grandma.

Also, Ticket to Ride.

My daughter (9) and my mom Facetime almost every night. They chat about their days, and then have been playing Guess Who. We got 2 copies of the game, and gifted my mom with one for this purpose. I'm trying to figure out if there are more games that are good for this situation? Thoughts? Battleship?
