No, never. It's part of the design. Unlike those string ties at the back hem of everyone's coat that they don't know to remove.

You would need to do it as soon as you get the jeans. I air dry my jeans as well and had one crack. I cut it off the rest of the way and the denim material underneath was much brighter than the rest of the worn, washed jeans.

The leather or jacron label that is stitched under the belt loops, like on Levi’s? I never thought twice about it before now. I leave it. My husband leaves his. One ripped off an old pair of Levi’s and left much darker blue denim to show through, which looks odd.
