Oy, OP. Was that your first time? Chaperoning is not fun. There is always at least one kid in the group who tries to stray or doesn’t listen. Forget about trying to teach them anything or worrying about whether they like you or not (!). Your only job is to make sure every kid makes it back on that bus. As for the photos, either send them through the school app or delete them from your phone and never give it another thought again.

NP. I chaperoned a lot of field trips when my kids were in elementary school and was never, ever asked to take pics. If anything, I was asked not to.

You are over thinking this. If the kid behaves this way for you, he definitely behaves this way for the teacher. The teacher knows why he was off by himself and took pity on you and had him stay with them.

Some parents just don’t care about pictures. Send a few from the group to the teacher and move on.

And I remember your post about chaperoning for the 1st time and what you should do (teach the kids the life cycle of the plant, whether or not to take pictures , and a whole host of other anxiety-prone questions).

I used to do a lot of photography for the school. My solution was the create a Shutterfly account and put all the pictures there. Then I would message the parents in question the login details for the account and wash my hands of the whole thing. It is a ton of work and some people really appreciate it but most won’t. I always did it for the kids.

You really do over think things. The parent couldn't even bother to go on a field trip with their ill behaved child. I doubt they care about pictures. Share them with the teacher or delete them and move on.

You didn’t do anything wrong. Stop thinking about it. Just give it another week and then delete if you don’t hear anything. Not everyone really cares to have a bunch of pictures.

I volunteered to take my own child plus 2 other kids (met the first time) at a 1st grader school field trip a few days ago, and I took many photos for the kids. It was an exhausting experience especially there was 1 kid do not listen to me. That kid loved to wander & leave the group without notice, and it took me 20 mins to crazily find him at the end and I found out that he was with teacher. I think he did not like me to the point ( I told him many times do not leave the group, do not throw balls outside out the game areas) that he decided to stay with teacher, and thanks God it was towards the end of field trip time. I did not complain to teacher, but I wondered if I should have explained to the teacher why he came to the teacher by himself.

Anyways, I texted both 2 kids' parents that I took some of their kids pictures, and I asked them how do you want me to send them. One kid's parent thanked me and asked me to send them through school app. The other kid's parent (which I had trouble with)did not response yet, but the message was viewed. Now, I wonder if I should go ahead to delete that kid's pictures off my phone if I still have not heard from them by the end of this month. I have tried my best to be fair and treated all kids mine as a volunteer chaperone, but I am wondering maybe I should not have nagged the kids many times not to leave the group. I am not from here, what would you have done if you were in my shoes? I am not from here, and I wondered what I did wrong that 1 kid kept leaving the group and not listening to me.
